The role of the Soulanges Canal Park board of directors is to oversee the management of the organization to ensure that the objectives linked to its mission are achieved. The board is formed of representatives from municipal and regional organizations, tourism partners, and one citizen position.

Jimmy Poulin

President

Member of the ordre des urbanistes du Québec, holder of a Master’s degree in tourism management and planning, and graduate in real-estate business, Jimmy Poulin has been working in municipal management for over 25 years. Since June 2011, he holds the position of General Manager of the Municipality of Les Cèdres.

Known for his devotion and passion, he participates in the planning and development of residential, industrial and recreational projects, while focusing on the user, the quality of the landscape and the feel of the location. For him, the Soulanges Canal constitutes a unique maritime heritage and an exceptional engineering feat. He believes in the longevity of this precious jewel, and in its reappropriation by the community.

Pamela Nantel

Vice-President

Pamela Nantel has a Master’s degree in public administration, is also a postgraduate from a microprogram in communications studies and in public management, and has a Bachelor’s degree in public management. Known for her drive, determination and creativity, she can handle matters of strategic planning, project management and communication with ease.

Reminiscent of a storied past, the canal represents for her a signature project for Vaudreuil-Soulanges and holds invaluable development potential for the area.

Serge Raymond

Treasurer

Serge Raymond is the General Manager of the Municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades. Graduate in Commerce, he has been working in the municipal sector for 30 years. He is skillful in political contexts, is knowledgeable in governance processes and can adapt to the evolving needs of municipalities.

In his eyes, the Soulanges Canal is a charming location, rich in history and culture. As the representative from Pointe-des-Cascades, he is particularly sensitive and attentive to the subjects of urban planning and the promotion of the heritage.

Daniel Bissonnette

Administrator Culture – Heritage

Graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in History, Daniel Bissonnette has held the position of General Manager of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Regional Museum since 1986. With the collaboration of dynamic colleagues, volunteers and partners, he has developed a form of museology opened to its community.

Native of the region, he was always fascinated by the canal, which he has learned about from members of the Société de recherches historiques de Pointe-des-Cascades, such as Pierre Clément, Jean-Pierre Poirier and many others.

Linda Strong Gallant

Representative – Universal Corporation

Linda Gallant has over 40 years of experience in the tourism industry. Co-owner of the Auberge des Gallant, she is known for her innovative side and leadership. She has contributed to structuring Quebec’s tourism industry by her involvement in the matter of touristic signage and in the Hôtellerie Champêtre network.

For Linda, the canal evokes childhood memories, as the backdrop guiding the road to family gatherings. She affectionately mentions that it is “her” canal.

Clément Arsenault

Citizen Representative

Clément Arseneault opened his first land surveyor’s firm in 1977, which became Arsenault Bourbonnais Inc., established in Vaudreuil-Dorion. He participated in the complete surveying of the canal around the year 2000 for Quebec’s Ministry of Transportation. Retired but still involved in his community, he also sits on the board of directors of the Centre d’Archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and of Promutuel Horizon Ouest.

An avid cyclist and citizen of Les Cèdres, he often cruises along the canal. With the creation of the Soulanges Canal Park, he is discovering the numerous possibilities of promoting it.

Joanne Brunet

Regional Representative: Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges

Bachelor’s degree holder in Business Management with a specialization in labour relations, Joanne Brunet began her career in Toronto, then Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, working for the mining multinational Noranda. She then joined the Beauharnois-Salaberry CLD. Since 2018, she has been the General Manager of Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges. Her regional vision and her ambition are an asset for the region. For her, the Soulanges Canal represents an invaluable asset and a pillar of our regional identity.
