Our mission

The Soulanges Canal Park is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and enhance the natural and heritage riches of the Soulanges Canal through outdoor activities and culture. Our actions are carried out for the benefit of citizens and visitors alike, in a collaborative and sustainable vision. Through our many projects, we aim to contribute to the identity and attractiveness of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, to the local economy and to the well-being of the community.

In 2024, we adopted our first strategic plan, highlighting the priorities of our organization and the ecosystem in which we operate.

Our regional park

The Soulanges Canal was initially defined as a regional park in the Schéma d’aménagement de la MRC Vaudreuil-Soulanges in 1997. Within its boundaries, the regional park includes the lands along the Soulanges Canal, the Petit pouvoir des Cèdres site, as well as the Ateliers site and the Pointe-des-Cascades nature park.

In 2015, the MRC established a renewed vision for the development of the Soulanges Canal, and negotiations with the MTQ began. In 2021, historic agreements were signed between the MRC, the MTQ and the canal’s riverside municipalities, officially launching the operations of the Soulanges Canal Park organization.

Quebec Regional Parks

A regional park is a natural area developed on public or private land. Its creation, possible under the Municipal Powers Act, is the result of a local or regional initiative. Its dominant vocation is generally outdoor recreation and tourism, and it serves a local and regional population, as well as a tourist clientele.

Soulanges Canal Park is proud to be a member of theAssociation des Parcs Régionaux du Québec. This association brings together, represents and promotes accessible outdoor activities and recreational tourism, to encourage healthy lifestyles through quality experiences in a safe environment.
