Retirement time for a great ambassador of the Soulanges Canal

Recently, we celebrated the retirement of a man who devoted his life to the development of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. After three decades in development and then as directeur général adjoint of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Mr. Raymond Malo bows out with, we are sure, the sweet feeling of accomplished duty. Raymond Malo served the region with determination, passion and patience. His interventions are always relevant, posed, strategic and often present a fair touch of humor, to be able to express his thoughts even better. I often said to myself that he was a real “legged encyclopedia”. He has traveled to the four corners of the planet and has drawn an original vision of the world around us, which he likes to share.

Mr. Raymond Malo is one of those who made progress on the Soulanges canal project. He was part of it when the MRC integrated this big and complex area as a regional park into the region’s development plan. It was quite visionary at the time, one can imagine. Twenty years later and an agreement signed with the MTQ in hand: today we have our Parc du canal de Soulanges! So much work done to get here. Raymond Malo will also bequeath us a master plan for cultural and landscape development, projecting us into the future over several decades. Now it’s up to us!

To highlight Raymond Malo’s important contribution, the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges will dedicate a public space in his honor. We will therefore be pleased to collaborate with the MRC for Place Raymond-Malo, which will be located in the Parc du canal de Soulanges in order to offer a place of rest and an exceptional view of the most important built heritage of the region.

On behalf of the Conseil d’administration of Parc du canal de Soulanges, on my personnal behalf and on behalf of the Parc team and our many collaborators, thank you for everything, Mr. Malo! And happy retirement, so deserved!
