Pointe-des-Cascades’ Nature Park

Located at the eastern end of Pointe-des-Cascades, Pointe-des-Cascades’ Nature Park is the ideal place for outdoor enthusiasts. Walk to the end of the pier and discover the lighthouse indicating the entrance to the Soulanges Canal. From the belvedere, you can admire the point where the Ottawa River meets the St. Lawrence River – a superb vantage point! For history buffs, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the remains of military canals along the trails. For those with a taste for sailing, a launching ramp is available. The 5 kilometers of trails are perfect for an outdoor stroll in summer, and for a fatbike or snowshoe tour in winter.

Summer

Parking: Free parking is available at the trailhead in front of Parc Saint-Pierre. Start your adventure at the Promenade du canal (just beside the diving base), which connects you to the rest of the trails.

Washrooms: Available at the Parc Saint-Pierre pergola at the start of your journey, or at parking P2, at the beginning of the Faucilles trail.

A launching ramp is available in the park, for motorized and non-motorized boats. Meet at parking lot P2.

N.B.: There is a charge for this service: you will have to pay a fee to access the gatehouse. The gatehouse is managed by the municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades. For rates, please visit their website or Facebook page.

Winter

Explore the trails on afatbike!

Soulanges Canal Park and the Municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades are pleased to announce the return of the oversized-tire bike rental service at Pointe-des-Cascades Nature Park for winter 2025. The season is scheduled to open on January 11, 2025, weather permitting. Every Saturday and Sunday in winter, visitors will be able to discover this enchanting site in a unique way, by pedaling the 5 kilometers of groomed trails.

Date: January 11 to March 2, 2025 (every Saturday and Sunday)
Time: Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. (last rental at 3 p.m.)
Location: Pointe-des-Cascades Nature Park
Cost: Adult ($15.00), Child ($5.00)

What you can expect:

  • 5 km of specially prepared and signposted trails;
  • Adventure for all levels.

Equipment required:

  • Bring your own bike or rent one from our booking platform;
  • If you own a helmet specially adapted for fatbike riding, we invite you to bring it with you. Our helmets are universal multisport helmets;
  • Wear several layers of clothing, as fatbike riding will keep you warm. This way, you can remove layers as you go along. Don’t forget a backpack for your extra clothing;
  • Don’t forget your sunglasses to protect you from the sun’s dazzling effect on the snow.

Discover the magic of winter on our snowshoe trails

Have you ever wondered what the world looks like when it’s wrapped in a blanket of sparkling snow? Put on your snowshoes for an unforgettable winter adventure on our nature trails, offering 3 km of pure splendor!

What to expect:

  • Enjoy 3 km of nature trails suitable for all levels.
  • Soak up the magical tranquillity of the snow-covered forest.
  • Capture unforgettable moments with your loved ones.

Tips for an optimal experience :

  • Wear several layers of clothing to adapt to the effort involved.
  • We recommend you wear your walking shoes or winter boots.
  • Don’t forget your sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare of the sun on the snow.

No equipment rental on site.

Open to all! No reservations required.

The trails are accessible to walkers during the winter season. However, we ask that you refrain from using the trails during periods of severe thaw when the ground surface is too soft, to avoid damaging the grooming. Thank you for your understanding 🙂

Walkers, beware of descents and stairs: crampons are sometimes necessary.

*These trails avoid snowmobile tracks. For your own safety, stay on the footpaths.

Parking: due to the temporary closure of a section of the Promenade du canal, we suggest that users use the parking lot at the bottom of the nature park to park their cars. Parking is free for the winter period.

N.B.: in the event of a snowstorm, priority is given to clearing snow from streets, so there may be a delay before accesses are cleared. Please do not drive on access roads that have not yet been cleared of snow.

Toilets: Available at the pergola in Parc Saint-Pierre (village core), or temporary toilets at the parking P2and at the fatbike rental center.
