SYLLAD at Soulanges Canal Park
All Day
29 July 2023
000000
The Soulanges Canal Park and the municipality of Pointe-des-Cascades invite residents and visitors to an original cultural experience on July 22, in the company of the SYLLAD duo. The activity, which brings together the themes of art and connection to nature, will enable participants to visit the Pointe-des-Cascades Nature Park in the company of the artists, learn more about their approach, and above all take part in a workshop to create raciels (minimalist works made from string and branches), followed by an artistic photo shoot (individual and collective) at the foot of a tree in the Nature Park. Photo works will be returned to participants in electronic format following the event.
Following the daytime activity, participants will be invited to stay or return at the blue hour (twilight) to create a giant raciel, the result of this day-long reflection on trees and the importance of the canopy in our daily lives. An invitation would also be extended to the general public for this closing event.
Activity details
Two groups of around twenty people each are possible. First group at 1pm, second group at 3pm. Duration: 90 to 120 minutes.
Cost of activity: symbolic fee of $20, including delivery of the electronic version of the photo to each participant after the event.
About the artists
SYLLAD is an artistic duo formed by visual artist Sylvie Rochette and photographic artist Ladislas Kadyszewski. After many years of practice in their respective fields, they chose to work together because of the complementarity of their practices, values and sensibilities, as well as their interest in tackling themes that question our presence in the world. The tree becomes the central symbol of this multimedia approach. For more information and their achievements:
