The Parc du canal de Soulanges and the Conseil du bassin versant de la région de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (COBAVER-VS), in collaboration with the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MELCC), invite the population to participate in the second edition of the “paddle up event” the canal! The 7.5 km route with portages allows you to discover and appreciate the magnificent landscape and architectural ensemble that is Lock 4 of the Soulanges Canal.

Date: July 23, 2022, postponed to July 24 in case of rain.

Schedule: Departures in cascades between 9:30 and 10:30 am.

Cost: Free for people who own their own kayak/SUP. 25$ to rent a kayak or SUP for the duration of the event, to be delivered to the starting point of the descent and includes PFD, paddle and safety kit. Limited places, registration required.

Location: Meeting point and departure of the land shuttle (to leave your vehicle at the end of the descent): Pointe-des-Cascades (parking on the curve of the 338). Details regarding departure times, shuttle and parking will be sent to participants a few days before the event.

Paddling circuit : From Rang Saint-Féréol (Les Cèdres) to the heart of the village of Pointe-des-Cascades, there will be two portages to make. The first one at the level of the lock 4 of the Soulanges canal (400 meters) and a second one at the Saint-Antoine row (street crossing).

Level of difficulty: Intermediate, due to the portages and the water entrances and exits. Warning: the canal is a watercourse with naturalized and steep banks, water inlets and outlets at portages require good strength and a certain agility. Choose light and solid boats and sail in pairs or in small groups.

Duration : between 2 and 4 hours.

Looking forward to sharing this moment with you!
