As of this week, a brand-new outdoor exhibit is coming to life along the Soulanges Canal bike path! A total of 27 oriflamme banners have been installed between Pointe-des-Cascades and St-Zotique to take cyclists and walkers on a journey through the fascinating history of the canal – from its daring construction to its glory years as a commercial waterway.
Each banner presents a section of this great human, technical and territorial adventure. The entire exhibition forms a linear, open-air trail, freely accessible and designed to enrich the experience of park users.
New for 2025: an interactive exhibition!
This year also marks a turning point for the exhibition: it becomes interactive!
Thanks to an all-new digital platform, visitors can now scan a QR code at each banner to access a full version of the image, plus facts and anecdotes related to the image and banner location.
It’s a fun, modern way to learn more about local heritage, right on the spot, along the way. The platform also allows you to consult the complete exhibition from home, on your cell phone or computer.

A collective and promising project
This exhibition project is the fruit of a sustained collaboration between several passionate partners. It was made possible thanks to the support of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (MRCVS ), through the cultural development agreement (2024). We wish to emphasize that the Canal Park’s financial and technical participation in this project is part of the MRCVSs “Signature innovation” project, supported by the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation (MAMH) as part of the Fonds régions et ruralité.
We also acknowledge the invaluable contribution of the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the Centre d’archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, as well as numerous local collaborators involved in historical research, content creation and field implementation.
