Opening of the bike path for the 2025 season
Can’t wait to pedal?
Get your bikes, helmets and good spirits ready: our bike path officially opens this Friday, April 18, in time for the Easter long weekend!

As of this week, a brand-new outdoor exhibit is coming to life along the Soulanges Canal bike path! A total of 27 oriflamme banners have been installed between Pointe-des-Cascades and St-Zotique to take cyclists and walkers on a journey through the fascinating history of the canal – from its daring construction to its glory years as a commercial waterway.
Each banner presents a section of this great human, technical and territorial adventure. The entire exhibition forms a linear, open-air trail, freely accessible and designed to enrich the experience of park users.
New for 2025: an interactive exhibition!
This year also marks a turning point for the exhibition: it becomes interactive!
Thanks to an all-new digital platform, visitors can now scan a QR code at each banner to access a full version of the image, plus facts and anecdotes related to the image and banner location.
It’s a fun, modern way to learn more about local heritage, right on the spot, along the way. The platform also allows you to consult the complete exhibition from home, on your cell phone or computer.
For full details, visit the heritage page of the website, or visit the exhibition directly here: https: //msj.world/canalsoulanges/card/lfhs8qr
A collective and promising project
This exhibition project is the fruit of a sustained collaboration between several passionate partners. It was made possible thanks to the support of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (MRCVS ), through the cultural development agreement (2024). We wish to emphasize that the Canal Park’s financial and technical participation in this project is part of the MRCVSs “Signature innovation” project, supported by the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation (MAMH) as part of the Fonds régions et ruralité.
We also acknowledge the invaluable contribution of the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the Centre d’archives de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, as well as numerous local collaborators involved in historical research, content creation and field implementation.
Discover it all summer long!
The exhibition is accessible now, and will remain in place throughout the summer season until the trail closes in the fall. Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover or just passing through, this initiative is sure to capture your attention and enrich your stroll.
The MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is proud to support regional facilities on its territory, and is donating $25,000 to the Soulanges Canal Park for the Soulanges bike path. The sums received are used to maintain the infrastructures in place and keep them up to date. Every year, investments are made in the maintenance of the Soulanges bike path, to keep the infrastructure safe and welcoming, and to add amenities for users.
The 35-km trail offers visitors a variety of panoramic views of the region, as well as a range of activities including an exhibition of the trail’s banner banners, interpretation panels, sporting and cultural events, the Archéotour bicycle tour and the Xplorateur family tour in collaboration with Parks Canada.
“This renewed funding reiterates the importance the MRC attaches to the development of this cycling link in the region. The Soulanges bike path is an essential infrastructure that combines active mobility and discovery, and crosses the Soulanges Canal Park, MRC’s signature project,” says Patrick Bousez, prefect of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC and mayor of Rivière-Beaudette.
“The support of the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is very important to us. It demonstrates the importance of the Soulanges bike path for the region. The bike path improves the quality of life of our Vaudreuil-Soulanges citizens, and we’re delighted to count the riverside towns and the MRC among our partners. This allows us to leverage our financial resources to maintain our infrastructure and improve the services offered to users year after year,” emphasizes Marianne Sigouin-Lebel, General Manager of the Soulanges Canal Park.
Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the artists participating in the 2023 edition of the Route des arts de Vaudreuil-Soulanges!

The Soulanges Canal Park would like to emphasize the importance of highlighting the region’s artists and their works and thanks the RAVS for this great project!
Happy exhibition to all!

Coteau-du-Lac, June 28, 2021 – The City of Coteau-du-Lac, the Municipalité des Coteaux and Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges are joining forces to revitalize the western mouth of the Soulanges canal by creating an ephemeral space. Indeed, for the summer season, the Thomas-Monro (Coteau-du-Lac) and Louis-Stanislas-Pariseau (Les Coteaux) parks will become “L’embouchure, pointe festive”.
Following a call for projects launched last February, a partnership with the young company Groupe Loisir Suroît will make it possible to animate the park from July 15 to September 4. The site, which is a magnificent showcase on the Soulanges canal and Lake Saint-François, will host a summer terrace which will be open from Thursday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Fun and festive atmosphere | The summer terrace will consist of a refreshment bar whose menu will present a large selection of microbrewery beers and local wines, commercial beers, cocktails with or without alcohol, lemonade as well as ice bars from the company POP Culture. , located in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. Colorful ephemeral furniture will dress the site and flower bed games will be available at the kiosk.
Programming | The season at L’Embouchure will be punctuated by events. Musical shows, DJ evenings, happy hours, yoga sessions on “Zen Saturdays”, SUP in the moonlight, SUP-Harp, activities on the water as part of the “Nautical weekends”: the summer will be effervescent on the tip.
Some activities are already confirmed:
FREE activities on the water or by the water for the whole family, including:
Programming is scalable. Special and themed activities as well as outdoor shows will be added over the weeks.
The arrival of May also marks the start of the cycling season on the Soulanges cycling path. For this occasion, the cycle path is getting a makeover and presents a brand new photographic exhibition.
A brand new citizen exhibition on the banners of the cycling path
Launched in 2020, the Soulanges cycling path banner renewal project has taken a new step with the recent installation of new exposition. The banners extend from the entrance to the bike path in Pointe-des-Cascades to Saint-Zotique, at the rate of one banner per kilometer, for a total of 54 photographic works presented. This project is supported by Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges and the Conseil des arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, in collaboration with the Soulanges cycling path committee and that it is funded by the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges and the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications. The project allowed 11 residents of Vaudreuil-Soulanges to share their vision of our region, while refining their photographic and artistic technique. They benefited from the professional support of artist curator Caroline Hayeur.
In the coming weeks, the partners will unveil exhibition panels, presenting the photographers as well as the complete collection of photos, in Pointe-des-Cascades. A sign summarizing the project will also be installed in Rivière-Beaudette.
The partners wish to congratulate the participants Samuel Angers, Caroline Campeau, Philippe Chevalier, Patricia Chousa, Caroline Forget, Claire Gervais, Alain Lajoie, Valérie Langlais, Nancy Lépine, Natacha Marleau and Stéphanie Toulouse for their contribution to this citizen project.
Sanitary facilities
Since the official opening on May 1st the sanitary facilities (toilets) of Pointe-des-Cascades, Les Cèdres, Coteau-du-Lac, Les Coteaux, Saint-Zotique and Rivière-Beaudette have been open seven days a week and cleaned on on a daily basis. Get informed before you go to the path, as the situation may change at any time.
The current health situation imposes strict standards on the path, including physical distancing, wearing a mask when required and abstinence from attendance if you have symptoms. For a reminder concerning the health standards in force, citizens can consult the following website: https://www.loisir.qc.ca/assets/Uploads/Nouvelles/20-085-140-13_COVID19-PaliersAlerte_mesuresLS-9avril2021_16h15.pdf
Asphalt work in progress
The spring paving work should be completed in the week of May 3, 2021. Emergency interventions can take place at any time during the season. The Soulanges Cycling Path Committee invites cyclists to respect the signs.

Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges (DEV) and the municipalities bordering the Soulanges bike path invite citizens to a great collective chore in honor of Earth Day. Earth Day is a great time to get involved for the planet and this collective chore is the perfect way to start the beautiful season.
The chore will be held on April 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the municipalities of Pointe-des-Cascades, Les Cèdres, Coteau-du-Lac, Les Coteaux, Saint-Zotique and Rivière-Beaudette. In order to ensure compliance with sanitary measures and control attendance, registrations are required this year. Those wishing to register are invited to do so at www.canaldesoulanges.ca. On the day of the event, bags and gloves will be provided for those who do not have them. Note that the event is postponed to the next day in the event of bad weather.
Sanitary measures
Departures could be done in waves, if the number of participants requires it. Information will be emailed to registrants where applicable. When registering, the names of all group participants must be indicated in the web form. The organizers wish to remind that outdoor activities are authorized in our region provided that the groups do not exceed eight people and that they wear a face covering if they do not come from the same home.
About the Soulanges cycling path
Official opening of the bike path is on May 1st. The Soulanges bike path is part of the green route no.5, which links the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region to Ontario and the island of Montreal. The Soulanges bike path is a 36 kilometer multifunctional trail, the first 23 kilometers of which run along the Soulanges Canal, a heritage and recreational infrastructure of prime importance for the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.
Since 2018, DEV has had the mandate to animate and enhance the Soulanges canal in the context of the creation of a regional park. Among the activities set up as part of this mandate, we find a non-motorized boat rental kiosk (kayaks and paddle boards) in the village heart of Coteau-du-Lac, Zen Saturdays at the canal, the organization of various one-off events as well as the management of a brand new website to promote activities on the canal.
