Directeur(trice) général(e) – Remplacement de congé de maternité
The Soulanges Canal Park preserves and enhances the natural and heritage resources of its territory for the benefit of citizens and visitors, by offering a safe environment that encourages the practice of leisure and outdoor activities and the discovery of a variety of experiences. The main attraction of our park is the Soulanges bicycle path, a first class multifunctional network in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
We are currently looking for a dynamic individual to fill the position of General Manager on a fixed-term contract (maternity leave replacement). A stimulating challenge for any manager who is passionate about the outdoors, culture, heritage and development, and who wants to make a difference in his or her community!
Your mission
- Plan, direct and control all of the organization’s activities in accordance with its mission and objectives, and with the policies and directives of the Board of Directors.
- Ensure the Park’s administrative management (budget management, human resources (3 permanent employees and up to 15 employees in the summer season), corporate communications, etc.).
- Prepare and coordinate meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, as well as reports on the various funding programs.
- Ensure the application of the organization’s various policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the MRC and the team.
- Act as the main point of contact with public and institutional collaborators (municipal organizations, regional agencies, ministries, etc.).
- Act as project manager for some of the organization’s major priority projects (notably infrastructure projects and heritage building redevelopment).
- Monitor funding programs and coordinate grant applications in collaboration with the team and partners.
- Support the team in setting up annual operations: season openings and closings, cultural and sports programming, rental services, etc.
- Ensure a sustained presence in the field to contribute to activities and note opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze park issues, prepare files and formulate recommendations required for decision-making by the team, the Board of Directors and/or working committees.
- Oversee Soulanges Canal Park’s communications activities with various clienteles (social media, requests for information, interactions with citizens, website, etc.).
- In conjunction with the team, ensure that projects undertaken contribute to the implementation of the Soulanges Canal Park Cultural and Landscape Master Plan and the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan.
- Monitor the Soulanges Canal Park membership process.
- Participate in positive, collaborative governance between the many players and stakeholders. Support and accompany local partners and organizations.
- Numerous other related tasks, aimed at promoting the channel and ensuring the smooth development of our organization.
Profile required
- Practical knowledge and a keen interest in outdoor activities, tourism, culture, heritage or infrastructure project management.
- Demonstrate strong management skills.
- Demonstrate dynamism and inspirational leadership.
- A strong sense of customer service and teamwork.
- Demonstrate political acumen and ease of communicating with a variety of people.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, on time and on budget.
- Know how to work in concert with various municipal, private, government and community partners.
Requirements
- University degree in tourism, recreation, public administration, regional development, project management, cultural animation, or any related field.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in a management position in a related field and/or 2 years at the helm of an organization in a similar sector.
- Knowledge of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges territory (an asset).
- Excellent command of French (oral and written) and good knowledge of English (oral).
- Valid driver’s license.

Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Fixed-term contract: 14 to 18 months.
- Available evenings and/or weekends on occasion.
- Competitive salary, ranging from $44 to $52 per hour, depending on experience.
